After months of online searching, I finally found that rarity of Japanese dress, the flannel yukata. The yukata is not a kimono. The yukata is less a formal Japanese robe designed for elegant leisure wear at home. Shoulder to ankle length, with a sophisticated design: wide sleeves, gorgeous oriental inspired patterns, on a loosefitting and ultra comfortable form. The best for winter wear are made of double thick flannel. Sadly, they are no longer being produced in Japan. After months of searching on the Internet, including actual Japanese sites, I had been unable to locate any until I came to The Japanese Style website. Anita found it for me, sent me a photograph of the cloth pattern, and it showed up at my door as exactly what I was looking for. Thank you, thank you! I wear these robes every day at home, and the flannel one is particularly comfortable and warm. A year or so down the line, I would’ve paid double what was charged me. There isn’t a day that passes without my feeling gratitude about this. If anyone else is thinking of buying, do it as soon as you can. We’re looking at the last of the international availability of this wonderful government.
