Our Red Shugi Bukuro Kotobuki Envelope is to give a cash gift called Oshugi. It is customary to give the bride and groom a cash gift at Japanese weddings. Traditionally, the money is presented in a Shugi-Bukuro (pronounced shoo-gi bukuro). You write your name and message on the envelope so the recipient can see whom the gift is from. Your name and message are written on the envelope so the recipient can see whom the gift is from. You place the envelope inside the shugi-bukuro. We beautifully adorn it with red, white, and gold cords twisted and tied into a decorative knot. This envelope has the Kotobuki Kanji in gold writing which means long life.
